Social work team (Hasini; Shahira) and counselor Pusenthi conducted a safe touch program for 180 primary school students from SMK Sentul Utama today! We thank this school for their openness and partnership in helping children identify their safe zones and safe touches.
Today marks a very special day, the 18 of July marks the honour of Sir Nelson Mandela, a hero who fought for justice and peace and for his legacy that still continuous in this world today!
Sir Nelson Mandela truly believed that all human beings deserved an equal opportunity in life- whether it was voting rights, or the right to work- he put his own life on the line and served 27 years in prison for what he strongly believed in.
We at Yayasan Chow Kit, a non-profit organization that serves children share similar sentiments and values of the legend. We strongly believe every child deserves an equal opportunity; a safe space to thrive, to be nurtured and cared for and to have their every basic rights met regardless of ethnicity, gender, nationality, or age. No child should be left behind and every child should be able to play and to become! Become someone better than who we are today.
Children are the pride of society. We cannot nurture them to become people the society desires but we need to thrive to ensure they become beings that are unimaginable to our expectations. Every child in Malaysia deserves protection- from the harshness of reality; and they deserve love and to be loved; and to feel belonged!
We as adults cannot and should not determine the safety of a child based on their demographics or economic standing as children are us, but little beings who deserve so much care as they are a million times more fragile and vulnerable.
" If you talk to a man in a language he understands, it will go to his head. But if you talk to him in his language, it goes to his heart"- Nelsen Mandela
