We were paid a special visit by United Nation's Special Rapporteur, Phillip Alston during his recent visit to Malaysia on extreem poverty and human rights.
Philip Alston is an independent expert appointed by the UN Human Rights Council, who visited Malaysia at the invitation of the government to assess its policies on tackling poverty, and the human rights of people in poverty in the country. He has previously visited a range of countries, including China, the US, the UK, and most recently, Laos.
Our children and teenagers had a fruitful time sharing their challenges living in the community and also shared their individual ambitions if equal opportunities were given to them.
We hope our children's session will enable some grass-root information for his reporting towards policy change.
